Biography

James is a PhD student in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology (HST) program, pursuing a degree in Medical Engineering and Medical Physics (MEMP) with a concentration in Computer Science. He is interested in leveraging computational and experimental genomic tools to understand mechanistic questions in immune aging and immunosurveillance across disease contexts.

Originally from Guangzhou, China, he received his BA in Computer Science summa cum laude from Columbia University in New York, where he worked with Prof. Darcy Kelley on Xenopus evolution, with Prof. Liam Paninski on neural network modeling of electrophysiology data, and with Prof. Dana Pe'er on single-cell genomics analysis of cancer progression. He also worked at Amazon Web Services as a Software Engineering Intern, focusing on database caching.

In his free time, James enjoys basketball, traveling, science communication through podcasting, and writing to reflect on different ideas.
