Biography
Aleth Gaillard is a 5th year Chemistry graduate candidate in the Shalek Lab. She grew up in the south of France enjoying the singing of the cicadas in the summer and skiing in the Alps in the winter. She received a B.S. in chemistry from the Ecole Normale Superieure of Cachan, France in 2011 and an M.S. in Molecular and Cellular biology from University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris) in 2014. She joined the Shalek lab in 2014. She is interested in developing new tools to couple temporal information (historical “metadata”) with single cell transcriptome to aid in identifying the molecular drivers of observed cellular phenotypes. She is also working on elucidating the mechanisms involved in the establishment of HIV latency and its further reactivation. In her free time Aleth enjoys finding new ways to express her creativity and craftiness.
