Biography
James is a research technician at Shalek Lab working on various computational projects in the lab. In collaboration with the Single Cell Portal team at the Broad Institute, he is working on Alexandria: a single-cell database portal that aspires to facilitate easy analysis for researchers in the field.
James was raised as the son of two artists nearby in Natick. He packed up and moved to Western Mass to attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he declared his major in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and minor in Computer Science. While interning at MIT, James was introduced to the field of bioinformatics, which presented itself as the perfect intersection of his passions for biochemistry and computer science. He now lives in Somerville, where in his free time he can be found collecting records, cooking spicy food, playing guitar, and every now and then escaping the city for a refreshing walk through nature.
